Installation of DG Rtn Gopal Shiralkar on 6th July 2011
The Big Day 6th July 2011.
It was a momentous occasion in the history of RID 3030 when Rotary International President Rtn Kalyan Banerjee spent the whole day with the Rotarians of RID 3030. He was mainly in the town to be the guest of honour for installation of Rtn Gopal Shiralkar as District Governor 2011-12. The day started with his arrival in the morning around 8:30 AM, at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, where he was welcomed by large number of Rotarians and Children who were polio affected and who had undergone Polio Corrective surgeries. The airport was well decorated by small and big hoardings with Kalyan’s pictures. He straight way was taken to Hotel Centre Point for traditional welcome. Settling down at the Hotel Kalyanda had breakfast with Governor Gopal, DGE Sanjay Meshram and DGN Kishor Kedia. The main function of Installation started at 10:30 AM with Ganesh Vandana Dance of three girls from Rotary Family. The function lasted upto 1:30 PM followed by lunch. During the programme the Rotary Distance Education Programme (e-learning) was inaugurated by Rotary International President Rtn Kalyan Banerjee.
The main feature was the tremendous response to TRF commitments during the year before 30th September 2011. In all 250 PHFs, Ten Major Donors were committed in the presence of Rotary International President Rtn Kalyan Banerjee. The District P.H. Society already has 14 members. Rotary International President Rtn Kalyan Banerjee appreciated the gesture. Complimenting the Rotarians, he elaborated on the emphasis on family, continuity and change and appealed Rotarians to be the change, they wish to see in the world. He stressed on Polio Eradication during the press conference and press interview.
The novel feature of the evening was “Corporate Meet” where about 50 corporated and Elites of the town were invited along with 200 Rotarians over a dinner.
Rotary International President Rtn Kalyan Banerjee appealed to big industrial houses of the region, to participate in programmes of Rotary and help Rotary to give last push to Polio Eradication.
It was a very busy schedule for Kalyanda and he was example of love and enthusiasm all through. Large number of senior Rotarians, Presidents and Secretaries of Nagpur Clubs were at airport to see him off next morning.
It is almost two weeks to the occasion, but Rotarians are still discussing the nice memories of the day and grace and simplicity of our Rotary International President Rtn Kalyan Banerjee a role model for the Rotarians of the world.
All the Rotarians of RID 3030 wish him well pray to God to give him strength to carry out his noble work for the benefit of the society.
